Lyrically Speaking for June 15

Hello again everyone! I’m feeling better from my cold and ready to get back into the saddle with this site and my writing. A big thanks goes out to everyone who commented in previous posts and I hope you all come back to see more ramblings from my mind and posts to inspire you to write.

On a side-note, can you belive 2008 is half over?? Where the hell did it go?

Speaking of inspiration, this weeks post focuses on a song that I believe exudes passion and love. While he made his mark in the music world as the front-man of the Police, Sting eventually embarked on a solo career that seemed to have some hit songs that got some fantastic radio-play. Now the Police are back and if you’re big on the 80’s (as I am) then you’ll enjoy that news.

As for Sting, his most famous song is the focus for this post. Fields of Gold is a clear and direct tribute to love and passion. The lyrics are pure poetry and I think the melodies that go along with the words compliment this song. In 2007 Sting came out with an acoustic album where it was just him and a guitar. This song shined. I’m honestly surprised it took me this long to get this song into this series of posts.

From Sting, here is Fields of Gold:

Youll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
Youll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
Well forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that Ive broken
But I swear in the days still left
Well walk in the fields of gold
Well walk in the fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
Youll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold
